EA FC 24 – Winter Wildcards Team Review

The eagerly anticipated Winter Wildcards release for EA FC 24 has finally arrived, showcasing a stellar lineup of player cards! In this article, we will delve into a detailed analysis of each player’s in-game stats, providing a thorough breakdown in understanding the pros and cons of each card.

Winter Wildcards Review

Alexia Putellas – 92:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 5*/5*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Tiki Taka (+), Finesse Shot, Power Shot, Incisive Pass, Pinged Pass, Technical, Flair, First Touch

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

What a cracked card. One of the standout features of her card is her playstyles and SM/WF combo. In addition to that, her dribbling ability is sublime, allowing her to maneuver through opposition defenses with ease, as well as her immaculate passing and shooting. All in all, she’s a game-changing card.

Rating: 10/10

Cristiano Ronaldo – 91:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 5*/4*

Work Rate: High/Low

Playstyles: Power Shot (+), Finesse Shot, Power Header, Technical, Flair, Trivela, Acrobatic, Aerial

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

This WW card captures the dominance of Ronaldo in-game, emphasizing his clinical finishing and aerial abilities. On top of that, he has all the Playstyles you’d want for a pure Striker like him. His card is definitely a must-have on your team (if you’re able to link him, that is).

Rating: 10/10

Virgil van Dijk – 91:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 2*/3*

Work Rate: Medium/High

Playstyles: Bruiser (+), Power Header, Long Ball Pass, Jockey, Block, Anticipate, Aerial

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

We all know how van Dijk performs in-game, so there’s not much to discuss with this card. The true GOAT defender in EA FC 24.

Rating: 10/10

Alex Morgan – 90:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/5*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Finesse Shot (+), Rapid, Flair, First Touch, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

It’s unfortunate she didn’t receive a huge pace boost, but aside that, this card looks great. Top shooting and dribbling, as well as Finesse Shot+. She’s going to be a major asset for your club if you’re running an NWSL team.

Rating: 8/10

(SBC) Gabriel Martinelli – 89:

Cost: ~720k

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 5*/4*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Technical (+), Finesse Shot, Rapid, Flair, Quick Step, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Deadeye

Decent upgrade for Martinelli, as well as a SM boost. However, this is fairly expensive considering his shooting and passing is a bit average comparing him to other winger cards. Martinelli also received an additional play style, Rapid, but other than that, it still doesn’t compensate for the SBC’s price. If you’re an Arsenal fan, he’s definitely a must-do, but other than that, it’s a no from me.

Rating: 6/10

Marco Reus – 89:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: Medium/Medium

Playstyles: First Touch (+), Finesse Shot, Chip Shot, Whipped Pass, Technical, Flair, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

Lovely upgrade for Reus, and if you’re looking for a fun card to try out, he’s your man. Top-tier passing and dribbling, great shooting for a CAM, and decent pace. Physicals are a bit of a let-down with just 72 stamina, but other than that, he looks amazing. If you’re running a Bundesliga or BVB team, definitely try him out for a spin.

Rating: 9/10

Paulo Dybala 89:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: High/Low

Playstyles: Trivela (+), Finesse Shot, Dead Ball, Technical, Flair, First Touch, Acrobatic

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

If you’ve tried out Dybala’s POTM, then you know this card’s going to be insane. WF boost, Playstyle+ change, and +1 upgrades to shooting and dribbling. It makes sense why this card received a downgrade in pace compared to the POTM version, but it’s obviously clear which card is better.

Rating: 9/10

Eder Militao – 88:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 2*/3*

Work Rate: Medium/High

Playstyles: Block (+), Power Header, Long Ball Pass, Jockey, Intercept, Aerial

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

Another amazing CB from this promo, and another option for Real Madrid/Brazil teams. Top defending and physicality, amazing pace for a defender, and nice Playstyles to go along with this card. Similar to van Dijk, the way Militao moves on the pitch is unique compared to other CB’s, so this card is defeinitely going to be expensive. If you manage to obtain him, he’s definitely a card that’ll be on your team for a couple of months.

Rating: 10/10

Grimaldo – 88:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/3*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Incisive Pass (+), Dead Ball, Whipped Pass, Anticipate

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

He’s been lighting up the Bundesliga lately with this skills, and a major reason why Leverkusen’s 1st over Bayern. Looking through his card, he’s received a nice boost in shooting, and decent upgrades to the rest of his stats BESIDES pace, where he received a downgrade compared to his TOTW. If you don’t mind the pace downgrade, he’s an insane-looking midfielder. Great passing and dribbling, decent defending, 96 shot power and long shots, and 98 stamina. Add a shadow onto this card and you’ve got yourself a top-tier box-to-box CM.

Rating: 10/10

Marcos Llorente – 87:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/5*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Whipped Pass (+), Power Shot, Incisive Pass, Tiki Taka, Rapid, Quick Step, Relentless

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

This card is crazy. SM and WF boost, Whipped Pass+, amazing shooting and pace, and has defensive capabilities? Absolutely insane. If you completed his evo, don’t fret – They each have their upsides, with the evo having the ability to play CM as well as more defending stats, but in my opinion, this card is the superior one solely for the 4*5*.

Rating: 10/10

Raphinha – 87:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 5*/4*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Trickster (+), Power Shot, Rapid, Flair, Quick Step, Relentless

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

Yet another card who received a SM boost. Very nice upgrades across the board compared to his gold, but similar to what I said about Martinelli, he’s fairly below the power curve compared to other wingers. However, if you’re a Barcelona fan, then you’ll love this card.

Rating: 8/10

Enzo Fernandez – 87:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/5*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Relentless (+), Long Ball Pass, Flair, First Touch, Press Proven, Slide Tackle, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

Great box-to-box midfielder looking at his in-game stats. Great passing in the necessary areas, very good dribbling, decent pace and shooting, and great defending and physicality. There’s nothing about this card that pushes him to the S-tier of midfielders, but don’t get me wrong – He looks great.

Rating: 8/10

Balde – 86:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Quick Step (+), Whipped Pass, Rapid, Jockey, Intercept, Anticipate, Relentless

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

Your first impression of this card may be negative, but once you look at his in-game stats and his Playstyles, you’ll understand why I rate him as a top-tier fullback. Near perfect pace, great passing, dribbling and defending, and amazing Playstyles for a fullback. I suspect he’ll be a bit cheap on the market due to his low physicality, but if you manage to pack him, try him out and trust me – You won’t regret it.

Rating: 9/10

Jonathan Bamba – 86:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Rapid (+), Flair, Quick Step, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Finisher

Another LaLiga winger! Right off the bat, his card doesn’t scream “meta”, but he looks like a fun card to try out. Now, if you used the Centurions Sharpshooter Evo on him, you came out with the win here. Sure, the WW has a Playstyle+ and more pace, but the Evo has 5* WF and better shooting. If you weren’t able to do the Evo on Bamba, then don’t worry, this card is just as nice, but it won’t have the WF and shooting luxuries that the evo has.

Rating: 8/10

Georginio Wijnaldum – 85:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/4*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Press Proven (+), Pinged Pass, Flair, Jockey

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

Pretty average card besides his 99 physical. Pretty disappointing and underwhelming, but if you’re trying to build a Liverpool past and present, he’s definitely a nice addition onto the team.

Rating: 6/10

Eberechi Eze – 85:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/3*

Work Rate: Medium/Medium

Playstyles: Tiki Taka(+), Long Ball Pass, Technical, Flair, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

99 passing with the Tiki Taka+ playstyle? Yes, please! Other than those two huge upsides, this card, similar to Wijnaldum, is pretty average. Average pace and shooting, and below-average physicality. I personally am going to try this card out for the sake of passing, but other than that, I don’t expect him to perform well.

Rating: 6/10

Rayan Cherki – 84:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 5*/5*

Work Rate: High/Low

Playstyles: Trickster (+), Chip Shot, Incisive Pass, Technical, Flair, First Touch, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

You’ll see 5*/5* and immediately think this card’s amazing, but once you see that his shooting and pace is average for a CAM, you’ll take that statement back. His dribbling is immaculate, but other than that, this card is just not good. However, if he fits into a future evo that boosts his pace and shooting, then completely forget my review on this card.

Winter Wildcards Icon Review

Pele – 96:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 5*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Quick Step (+), Finesse Shot, Power Shot, Incisive Pass, Technical, Trickster

Preferred Chem Style: Catalyst

Not much to say about Pele; he’s been amazing since… Forever. Only thing I dislike is the Playstyle+ change, but aside from that, perfect card all-around.

Rating: 10/10

Marco van Basten – 92:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: Medium/Medium

Playstyles: Pinged Pass (+), Finesse Shot, Dead Ball, Technical, First Touch, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

Love the passing and shooting exchange compared to his base icon card. With that huge passing upgrade as well as Pinged Pass+, he defnitely looks useable now. I still expect him to be on the cheaper side of the WW icons, but he looks like a fun card to try out!

Rating: 8/10

Ruud van Nistelrooy – 91:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/3*

Work Rate: Medium/Medium

Playstyles: Far Throw, Rush Out

Preferred Chem Style: Basic

Very fun position change, love that from EA! It’s unfortunate ’cause we all know how GKs perform in-game- They’re either amazing or just flat-out garbage, no in between. Still, it’s really cool to see a ST being position changed to GK.

Rating: 10/10

Didier Drogba – 91:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/5*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Aerial (+), Power Shot, Power Header, First Touch, Press Proven

Preferred Chem Style: Engine

This Drogba version is just impeccable. Aside from the agility and balance, he has all the right Playstyles for a pure ST, a nice WF boost, and just insane in-game stats.

Rating: 10/10

Gary Lineker – 91:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: High/Low

Playstyles: First Touch (+), Technical, Flair, Relentless

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

I personally love how EA’s making the unusable icons usable! With Lineker, they gave him a SM boost, and huge upgrades in pace and dribbling stats. Despite getting a downgrade in shooting and not having good Playstyles, he still looks amazing for a winger.

Rating: 8/10

(SBC) Ruud Gullit – 89:

Cost: ~2.6m

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/5*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Press Proven (+), Power Header, Incisive Pass, Long Ball Pass, Anticipate, Relentless, Aerial

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

The community’s going to think this card is way too overpriced, but considering how Gullit plays in-game, I think it’s fairly cheap for him. He’s still Gullit Gang and has some nice Playstyles to complement his in-game stats, so if you have the fodder for him, I think it’s worth completing.

Rating: 9/10

Fernando Torres – 89:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 5*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Quick Step (+), Finesse Shot, Chip Shot, Power Header, Rapid, Flair, Trivela

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

Amazing boost to this card, and with 5* SM, he’s definitely going to be expensive on the market. Torres is one of the top-tier icons in EA FC 24, and with this version being released, I expect this card to push that threshhold of top 10 cards.

Rating: 10/10

Michael Owen – 89:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/4*

Work Rate: Medium/Medium

Playstyles: Technical (+), Finesse Shot, Chip Shot, Rapid, Quick Step

Preferred Chem Style: Hunter

If you don’t mind the 3* SM, this card looks sick. Great shooting in the right areas, perfect dribbling and pace, and decent stamina for a winger. I dislike how much his shooting was downgraded compared to his base icon, but it’s still a great card nonetheless.

Rating: 8/10

Ian Rush – 88

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Relentless (+), Finesse Shot, Chip Shot, Power Header, First Touch, Flair, Aerial

Preferred Chem Style: Shadow

Yet another unusable base icon card that was turned useable and not only that, but Rush received a position change! Another W from EA. Amazing dribbling and passing (aside from long passing), great defending and physicals, and pretty good shooting for a midfielder. If you’re looking for a new CM who can play box-to-box, he’s definitely a solid option.
