FIFA 19 Future Stars was the first time we saw this promo.
With the release of the FIFA 23 Future Stars team we thought it was a good time to look back to 2019 when we received our first ever Future Stars.
Looking back there are some that fared better than others, check them out below!
VinÃcius Júnior
VinÃcius Júnior is definitely one player who has lived up to the hype, winning multiple trophies, including some fantastic performances to help Los Blancos to lift the Champions League last season, definitely deserved the tag of a future star
Future Stars Status: Nailed On
Matthijs de Ligt
His amazing performances at Ajax earned him a move to Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, has been very solid for them since his move and has seen his card receive an upgrade of +5 in the past 4 years. Definitely more a star than a flop.
Future Stars Status: Confirmed
Houssem Aouar
Aouar was once seen as one of the hottest young midfield talents but has since seen a sharp decline, he has only started 6 games this season for Lyon missing 8 due to injury.
Future Stars Status: Undeserved
Albin Lafont
He has been solid for Nantes but probably doesn't fall into the bracket of a star, this is a hard one as he doesn't fall into the flop category nor the star, I think this is definitely one to revisit.
Future Stars Status: Unconfirmed
Jaden Sancho
Before his move to Manchester United, he was seen as one of the most exciting prospects England had to offer, however this season he has not lived up to the levels expected of him.
United have had a transition season under Ten Haag and may be fair to delay judgment after a few more seasons.

Arthur Melo
I think Arthur is definitely one player who can go firmly in the flop category.
His performances for Barcelona won him a big money move to Juventus (for 76 million Euros!) He fell out of favour in the past 12 months which led to a transfer deadline day move to Liverpool... He has only played 13 minutes due to picking up an injury in October.
Future Stars Status: Undeserved
Kai Havertz
Kai Havertz is another one that seems like his performances have faultered because of his team more than his ability. He has undoubtedly had a mixed bag since his move to Chelsea, the highlight being the goal he scored in the 2021 Champions League final to secure the coveted trophy, for the past 18 months however he has been played in multiple positions and not really kicked on. One to wait on.

Trent Alexander-Arnold
If we were looking at this two years ago, he would undoubtedly have been seen as a nailed on Future Stars success, up until six months ago you could have argued this.
Unfortunately Liverpool have suffered so far this season and languish mid table, a lot of the criticism has been aimed at Trent for his positioning and his performances that have led to goals. Due to this, it's one we will have to leave to confirm either way...

Patrick Cutrone
One of the biggest disappointments out of the class of '19. Since 2019 he has played for FIVE different clubs in four seasons (Wolves, Fiorentina, Valencia, Empoli and now Como). They are curerntly languishing 13th in Serie B, not what you would expect for one of the brightest future talents.
Future Stars Status: Undeserved
Rodrigo Bentancur
Moved from the Italian giants in the summer to Spurs, he has played almost every game this season and has been one of the shining stars of the Spurs team. I don't feel he has shown enough to be given the stars status yet so will have to watch and wait.
Future Stars Status: Uncomfirmed
Phil Foden
Manchester City's golden boy, he has definitely lived up to the hype and is worthy of his Future Stars card, his base card is nearly hitting the expected peak already.
