It’s that time again where we go on a journey and review all the cards in EA FC 24’s first promo – Road to the Knockouts! If you’ve been itching to know which card will be insane on the pitch and giving nightmares to your opponents, you’re in the right place. We’re here to analyze every single card in this sizzling promo, from the pacey forwards to the rock-solid defenders. As always, I will review the card’s in-game stats, work rates, SM/WF, playstyles, and give a rating out of 10 based on cost and usability. Without further ado, let’s get this started!

UCL Road to the Knockouts Review

Erling Haaland – 92:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/3*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Acrobatic (+), Power Header, Quick Step

What an insane card to begin the official start of EA FC 24. An upgrade to his skill moves is amazing enough, but with a nice +2 Pace upgrade, +1 Shot, +2 Physical, and +2 Passing, in addition to potentially getting an easy +2 upgrade, this card is at the top there for the best strikers in the game. His Agility (78) and Balance (74) may make him feel a bit clunky in terms of dribbling, but if you’re looking for a pure striker to bang goals, Haaland’s your guy.

Rating: 10/10

Victor Osimhen – 90:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Chip Shot, Power Header, Rapid, Acrobatic

If you haven’t realized it yet, Playstyles make a huge impact in-game, and especially a card with the right Playstyles could dominate the pitch. Osimhen seems to be one of them. He may not have any Playstyle+ traits, but he has the ideal ones for a tall striker.

+2 Pace, +3 Shot, +3 Dribbling, and +3 Physical is a big upgrade to his stats. He’ll definitely be someone to look out for on the pitch, such a beast!

Rating: 10/10

Bruno Fernandes – 90:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/3*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Incisive Pass (+), Pinged Pass, Long Ball Pass, Flair, First Touch, Trivela

Right off the bat, without going in-depth on his in-game stats, this card is unreal. In addition to having several Playstyles, his massive upgrades on Shooting (+3), Passing (+3), and Dribbling (+3) is immaculate. 99 Stamina as well? Oh my Lord. The reason I’m not worried about his Pace is because, in my opinion, Pace isn’t really the meta for midfielders at the moment; more so, it’s having Playstyles in conjunction with good positioning, short/long passing, and dribbling. This card checks all those boxes.

Rating: 10/10

Bukayo Saka – 89:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Technical, Flair

4*/4* is such a critical factor for this card. That is exactly what Saka needed, and +4’s across the board with a +5 Pace increase? This is it right here. Welcome to RTTK, ladies and gentlemen.

Insane dribbling and pace, passing is great, shooting is ideal. With this well-deserved upgrade, I guarantee you that he’ll be a force to reckon with in-game.

Rating: 10/10

Leonardo Bonucci – 88:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 2*/4*

Work Rate: Medium/High

Playstyles: Power Header, Pinged Pass, Long Ball Pass, Intercept

Huge pace upgrade for Bonucci (+28), in addition to +6 Defense and +5 Dribbling. A bit of a downgrade in the Physical and Passing areas, but it’s understandable — he would’ve been very overpowered.

He has some decent Playstyles, just not the ideal ones for a defender: With his Pinged Pass and Intercept traits, he can definitely get you out of sticky situations when under pressure by an opponent. Overall, an amazing CB for the Bundesliga.

Rating: 8/10

Dries Mertens – 87:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Finesse Shot, Incisive Pass, Flair, First Touch

It’s unfortunate he’s in the Turkish league; the lack of links will make this card cheap. Overlooking that downside though, this card will be a perfect CAM. +6’s across the board with +5 Dribbling is a massive upgrade. His body type and acceleRATE in combination with those stats, he’ll definitely be fluid in-game.

If you’re building a fun Super Lig team, do not leave this card out of your squad.

Rating: 9/10

Rodrigo De Paul – 86:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/3*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Finesse Shot, Incisive Pass, Long Ball Pass, Technical

Messi’s personal bodyguard is here! He’s a great box-to-box midfielder option, with +2 and +3 upgrades across the board. He has good Playstyles that are needed for a midfielder, and because of that reason, I expect he’ll be a bit expensive, but considering his links and being in LaLiga, I’d say it’s definitely worth it.

Rating: 9/10

(SBC) Bruno Guimaraes – 86:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/3*

Work Rate: High/High

Playstyles: Incisive Pass, Long Ball Pass, Flair, Press Proven, Trivela

The price of this card is estimated to be ~228k. Do I think it’s worth it? Absolutely not. Sure, he’ll get a few upgrades here and there, but for the start of EA FC 24, and with new players not having that many coins yet, this card’s a hard pass.

He did get a decent boost, however, with +5 Pace, +6 Shooting, and +2/+3 to the rest of his stats, making him a great box-to-box midfielder with fluid dribbling and amazing passing, but for the price, it’s just not ideal to waste your coins/fodder on him.

Rating: 4/10

Pierre Kalulu – 85:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 2*/3*

Work Rate: Medium/High

Playstyles: Block, Anticipate

I can tell right away he’s going to be a meta card regardless of Playstyles. With his +2 Pace, +6 Defense, and +7 Physical upgrades, great Passing and Dribbling for a CB, in addition to being French and in the Serie A league, he’s going to be a solid option for many players.

Rating: 10/10

Lois Openda – 85:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Finesse Shot, Rapid, Quick Step, Trivela

A decent upgrade for the Leipzig striker. Having high pace with 86 Finishing and 87 Positioning and above-average Dribbling, I expect he’ll also be pretty expensive. He’s for sure going to be an annoyance on the field, just be on the look out for his “Get In Behind” runs.

Rating: 9/10

Konrad Laimer – 85:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/3*

Work Rate: Medium/High

Playstyles: Block (+), Incisive Pass, Slide Tackle, Bruiser, Relentless

I’ve personally tried his Gold card, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good he was at the CDM position. With a +1 Pace upgrade and +2/+3’s across the board with a good chance of upgrades, he is definitely a top choice for Bundesliga teams. Having Block as his Playstyle+ is amazing as well, which gives him a higher chance of performing a block and making a successful block.

Rating: 10/10

Mats Wieffer – 84:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/3*

Work Rate: Medium/High

Playstyles: Bruiser, Press Proven, Aerial

Honestly, setting aside the league he’s in, this is a well-rounded card, which I did not expect at all for an 84. Huge +11 Pace upgrade in addition to +7/+8’s across the board is what this card needed. He’s for sure going to be a big presence on the field with those stats.

I don’t know how Feyenoord is going to perform in the UCL, but if they manage to win and he gets an upgrade, this card will just get better and better.

Rating: 10/10

(OBJECTIVE) Giovanni Reyna – 84:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/2*

Work Rate: Medium/Medium

Playstyles: Finesse Shot, Tiki Taka, Technical, Flair

+7/+8 upgrades across the board with +6 Dribbling & Defending.

It’s very disappointing his weak foot’s 2*, cause this card looks decent for an objective, but regardless, it’d be ideal to complete him. Whether you want him in your squad, to use as fodder, a Dortmund fan, or just waiting till he gets potential upgrades, this card is competely free to do.

Rating: 5/10

Deiver Machado – 83:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 2*/3*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Block, Anticipate

+3 Pace, +6 Dribbling, and +8/+9 upgrades to the rest of his stats.

I personally don’t like him since he doesn’t seem to be a defensive monster, but he’s for sure well-rounded. He’s also in Ligue 1, so if you have a Ligue 1 squad, he could be a nice option to pick up for your fullback.

Rating: 6/10

UECL Road to the Knockouts Review

Edin Dzeko – 88:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/5*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Finesse Shot, Technical, Acrobatic

I really like this card. A huge +18 Pace upgrade, +5 Shooting, +3 Passing and +4 Dribbling was needed for Dzeko. Although he has sub-80 pace, having the Lengthy acceleRATE can make him feel rapid on the pitch. Not only that, but he has great Playstyles for a pure striker, especially with the Finesse Shot Playstyle.

If you’re looking to have fun with a Super Lig team, him and Mertens are a must for your club.

Rating: 8/10

Dodo – 84:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 3*/3*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Rapid

What a huge upgrade from his Gold card! +3 Pace, +6 Defense/Physical, +9 Passing and +7 Dribbling, and a whopping +12 Shooting. Wow. He’s going to feel rapid and just a solid defender overall. Being Brazilian and in the Serie A League, I suspect he’ll be on a lot of teams for the links in addition to being cheap, so another good choice right there!

Rating: 8/10

UEL Road to the Knockouts Review

Luis Diaz – 87:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Technical, Flair, Quick Step

Oh my Lord, what a card. +2/+3’s across the board with +4 Physical. It’s for sure Liverpool’s going to get a win, meaning he’ll at least get a +1 upgrade, which will only add to the insanity of this card.

A pacey winger with unreal dribbling and great shooting in the right places, he’s definitely going to break some controllers.

Rating: 10/10

Pedro Goncalves – 84:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: High/Medium

Playstyles: Finesse Shot, Dead Ball, Incisive Pass, Tiki Taka, Whipped Pass, Technical, Flair

The amount of Playstyles he has is insane, and something I haven’t noticed until now. They’re all really great for a card like him as well, which just adds more fuel to the fire. +1/+2 upgrades across the board, which doesn’t seem like a lot, but if he gets a couple of upgrades, he’s going to possibly be a top 10 winger in the game.

As of now, Pace is lacking, but if you don’t care about that, he looks amazing. I presume he’ll feel great in-game too.

Rating: 8/10

Kiliann Sildiliia- 87:

Skill Moves/Weak Foot: 4*/4*

Work Rate: Medium/Medium

Playstyles: Long Throw

If he didn’t have the alternative position at CB, this card would’ve been a bit too slow in the RB position, but I’m glad he has it. Huge upgrades across the board with +12/+10’s, +11 Shooting, and +9 Pace.

Being French as well as being in the Bundesliga is good for links. He’ll also be a solid CB for the start of the game, so be sure to pick him up if you’re building a Bundesliga team!
